How did the charity come about?
Initially set up as The
Prince of Wales’ Advisory Group on disability in 1983, The Disability
Partnership became an independent charity in June 1997. Our remit is to act
as a catalyst organisation, helping to address the most intransigent
problems faced by disabled people in our society today.
Why are we different from other disability
charities?
-
We work to accelerate the
inclusion of disabled people in society;
We work on behalf of all
disabled people not just for a specific impairment;
We work nationwide – and
internationally – across all sectors of society, not just in one specific
area.
Our remit
is to “pioneer” and to take on the most difficult but vital issues that
would otherwise be left unresolved
